Δ Q = Δ U + Δ W, 100 = Δ U + 40

Δ U = 60 joule = U 3 – U 1

Path 1 – 4W by gas = W by gas 1-4-3 = 10 joule W for process 3 → 1 = + 10 = 25 joule

Q = – 25 – 60 = – 85 joule
